POETIC JUSTICE – TACKLING THE LANGUAGE OF MISOGYNY

The Narrative of the Manosphere

Drawing from his own childhood experiences of living in a Women’s Aid shelter and a children’s home, this powerful, and often hilarious, two hour seminar delivers an essential, life-changing message.

Through storytelling, poetry, and stand-up comedy, poet Stephen Murray focuses on how the language that we engage with undermines us, by normalising misogyny, homophobia, racism and violence.

The Power of Vulnerability

Vulnerability is what connects us as human beings, and every hero in every story is defined by it. Without their vulnerability, we would have no reason to admire them. It is what makes us root for each other.

Here we pick apart the common narrative of the manosphere that tells us that vulnerability is weakness and prove that believing vulnerability is weakness is the greatest weakness that we can have.

Changing the Narrative

How are we measured? Are we measured by how small we make others look and feel, or by our ability to stand up to those who do so? Who are we, and who are we pretending to be? Do we really have the courage to be true to ourselves? Do we have the courage to be vulnerable, sensitive, kind? Do we really believe that we are measured by who we can humiliate or destroy? Do we have the courage to be empowered by vulnerability and not shamed by it? Do we have the courage to be ourselves?
